In addition to its four industry-leading awards – Public Service, First Amendment, Online Convergence and International Perspective – the association this year announces creation of the APME Innovator of the Year Award. The award will recognize the efforts of editors and others who are doing new and exciting things in their newsrooms, in their newspapers and on their Web sites. The contest is open to any editor, team or AP member newspaper. Adding to the excitement of the new award will be the way in which it will be selected – live, at the APME annual conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 3-6.
