Are you an innovator? Are you part of a team that has done something bold and creative in the past year? Has your newspaper or Web site taken a chance and broken new ground in an effort to build a bigger audience?

If so, the APME Innovator of the Year contest wants you.

APME is launching the contest this year to recognize the efforts of editors and others who are doing new and exciting things in their newsrooms, in their newspapers and on their Web sites.

The contest is open to any editor, team or AP member newspaper.

Adding excitement to this new contest is the way in which it will be judged. A team of APME board members will select three finalists from the entrants, and the finalists will be asked to present their innovations at APME's conference in Washington, D.C., Oct 3-6. Conference attendees then will vote to choose the winner.

The Innovator of the Year will be honored at the conference and featured on the cover of APME News.
