Awareness of moderating techniques online for reader postings
Next, both editor and public users of local news online were asked whether they were aware of methods that were being used on the websites that they visited more frequently for moderating user comments. The methods included posting terms of service, reporting objectionable postings, removing offensive posts, and etc.
When asked "Overall, do you think these techniques are effective in producing on-point and civil discussion online?" 68% of the users thought the moderating techniques were effective. Similarly, about 66% of the editors agreed.
In addition, editors were asked a few more questions about other moderating methods.
