The APME has honored the above photograph as National Member Photo of the Month for January 2013.
Thanks to Dave Weatherwax and the staff at The Herald for judging this month.
What Dave had to say about the winning image: "Overall, we felt there were a lot of very nice photographs in the selection. A lot of beautiful frames. But the one thing we felt was largely missing from the selection was any kind of emotional moment that made us as a viewer connect to the subject on an emotional level. That is largely why we selected the frame from the funeral as the winner. It is very simply shot. The oddity of seeing a fast food bag being placed on a casket, combined with the grief on the woman's face, just begged us to read the caption. And the caption certainly did not let us down."

Phiel and other mourners went through the drive-through at Burger King and each got the hamburger to honor Kime, Jr. who loved fast food. (AP Photo/York Daily Record, Jason Plotkin)
