Gil Thelen’s Public
Affairs Reporting class at the University of South Florida has the assignment
of spending however much time they can Thursday and Friday at the APME
conference. The class is large, 40, and constitutes junior and senior majors
in the School of Mass Communications. They will be struggling other classes
and jobs, so expect to see them in and out.
The students will be
blogging live on their time with APME. Gil, who is the retired editor/publisher
of the Tampa Tribune and a longtime Knight-Ridder editor, is complimentary of
the students’ performance. He says APME editors will enjoy meeting
them. They certainly look forwarding to meeting the APME editors.
