APME has honored the above photograph as the Member Photo of the Month for December 2010.
Thanks to John Rumbach at The Herald in Jasper, IN and staff for judging this month. What they had to say about the winner:
"The picture of the month for December is one of those photographs that needs some attention from the viewer to be understood, yet its impact is no less than that of a quick-read, emotion-filled image. The viewer sees a row of hearses, rear doors open. A man holding a funeral flower arrangement stands on the left. Why so many hearses? The caption reveals that six people from one family, including three children, died in a fire. This is a quiet moment and a different approach to documenting the funeral without being intrusive. Yet it is expressive of the magnitude of the tragedy.”
