June 2006 Showcase Photo

This is the June 2006 Member Showcase photo of the month, as judged by APME. Spc. Clint Kurth of Oshkosh, Wis., starts to cry as he looks out of a bus window at his family holding signs and waving to him moments before the 1157th Transportation Company left the Army National Guard Armory in Oshkosh, Wis., Saturday, June 17, 2006. The company will go to Indiana to train for future service overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Associated Press Managing Editors association awards Member Showcase Photo honors each month for the best image shared by a newspaper with other Associated Press photo users. The competition is judged by a panel of AP and member photo editors. The best of the monthly Showcase photos receives a Member Showcase Photo prize at the APME annual conference in October.
