October 2006 Showcase Photo

This is the October 2006 Member Showcase photo of the month, as judged by APME. Dutch Kaffel cruises down his street Oct. 6, 2006, with Harley, the Canada goose he raised after finding him on the lawn of his Frankfort, Ill., home. Kaffel "flies" Harley, who prefers to go about 35mph, up to four miles about everyday. Kaffel has resisted calls to take his goose to Hollywood and hopes Harley will join a flock when mating season comes next spring.

The Associated Press Managing Editors association awards Member Showcase Photo honors each month for the best image shared by a newspaper with other Associated Press photo users. The competition is judged by a panel of AP and member photo editors. The best of the monthly Showcase photos receives a Member Showcase Photo prize at the APME annual conference in October.
