This is the June 2007 Member Showcase photo of the month, as judged by APME. Frank Grass consoles his wife Patti as she kisses and hugs the casket of their son Cpl. Zachary A. Grass at the Welty Cemetery. Monday, June 25, 2007, near Beach City, Ohio. Grass based in Fort Lewis, Wash., was killed in Iraq June 16 from a roadside bomb explosion.

The Associated Press Managing Editors association awards Member Showcase Photo honors each month for the best image shared by a newspaper with other Associated Press photo users. The competition is judged by a panel of AP and member photo editors. The best of the monthly Showcase photos receives a Member Showcase Photo prize at the APME annual conference in October.
