February 2008 Showcase Photo
This is the February 2008 Member Showcase photo of the month, as judged by APME. Some words from the judges: "The raw emotion of the photo is what initially caught our eye. The more we looked at it we were struck by how all of the elements of the photo come together. The motion of the hand of the girl as she waves, the distance of the soldiers from the families, the sippy cup, the portion of the mom we can see. It's just such a complete and gripping photo. Some great work."

The Associated Press Managing Editors association awards Member Showcase Photo honors each month for the best image shared by a newspaper with other Associated Press photo users. The competition is judged by a panel of AP and member photo editors. The best of the monthly Showcase photos receives a Member Showcase Photo prize at the APME annual conference in October.
