This is the June 2008 Member Showcase photo of the month, as judged by APME. Candice Knilans waits for her husband Petty Officer 3rd Class John Knilans to get off the USS Harry S. Truman, after being deployed for seven months, on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 in Norfolk, Va. Thousands of sailors from the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group returned to Norfolk along with the USS Oscar Austin, USS Winston S. Churchill and USS San Jacinto.

The Associated Press Managing Editors association awards Member Showcase Photo honors each month for the best image shared by a newspaper with other Associated Press photo users. The competition is judged by a panel of AP and member photo editors. The best of the monthly Showcase photos receives a Member Showcase Photo prize at the APME annual conference in October.
