Fedelin Thelusma, 25, center, mourns the death of his brother, who was shot by U.S. Marines after he failed to stop his taxi as commanded in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Micial Thelusma, 31, was driving his brother home when he encountered a roadblock set up by Marines in an effort to stop massive looting. Witnesses said instead of stopping the taxi sped up.

The Associated Press Managing Editors association awards Member Showcase Photo honors each month for the best image shared by a newspaper with other Associated Press photo users. The competition is judged by a panel of AP and member photo editors. The best of the monthly Showcase photos receives a Member Showcase Photo prize at the APME annual conference in October.
