At the Albuquerque, New Mexico, NewsTrain on Oct. 25-26, 2019, you will learn how to:

  • Maximize your smartphone for mobile newsgathering,
  • Create simple data visualizations such as maps and charts,
  • Employ data and documents to bring an enterprising mindset to daily work,
  • Construct a personal brand and content strategy on social media,
  • Use social media as powerful reporting tools,
  • Promote ethical behavior and transparency to build trust with your audience, and
  • Coordinate with other newsrooms to create more powerful journalism.

Scholarships are available for journalists, journalism educators and journalism students from diverse backgrounds. The deadline to apply is Sept. 18, 2019. Please see the workshop page for details.

This NewsTrain is being held in conjunction with the New Mexico Press Association (NMPA) Convention. Please see its website for how its members' staffs can register for the convention, including NewsTrain.

For just $75 through Sept. 25, those whose organizations are not members of the NMPA can register here for 1.5 days of digital trainingOn Sept. 26, registration for non-members of NMPA increases to $85.
