Peter Diana of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette receives the April Photo of the Month

The Associated Press Media Editors has honored this photograph as National Member Photo of the Month for April 2019.

 

Thanks to Mike Lang, Dan Wagner and Thomas Bender at the Herald-Tribune  for judging this month. 

 

Here is what the judges had to say about the winning image:

 

There were a number of good sports action photos, but the reaction of the hockey fans in the background made this image stand out. There were also a number of good news photos — but they were exactly what you would expect a talented photojournalist to deliver from an assignment or breaking news. We felt the hockey photo gave readers an unexpected surprise

Of special note, this is the second month in a row for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to receive the Photo of the Month honor.
