APME has honored the above photograph as the National Memer Photo of the Month for May 2012.

Thanks to John Rumbach and his staff at The Herald in Jasper, Ind. for judging this month.

What John had to say about the winning image:

"Dozens of pictures were published from the annular eclipse on May 20. Michael Chow's photograph is one of the more unique. He chose a great spot and angle to capture eclipse observers silhouetted in an other-worldly sliver of sun. Excellent preparation and execution of a known event."

Views all the images entered for May and the winner is slide #23:

Hikers watch an annular eclipse from Papago Park in Phoenix on Sunday, May 20, 2012. The annular eclipse, in which the moon passes in front of the sun leaving only a golden ring around its edges, was visible to wide areas across China, Japan and elsewhere in the region before moving across the Pacific to be seen in parts of the western United States.
